Do you know that Maslenitsa (Pancake week, Butter Week, or Cheesefare Week) is celebrated during the seventh week before Easter? This year it started on February, 8 and lasts till February, 14. Maslenitsa is an old, even ancient religious holiday, but in fact it’s rather folk and very joyful. There are always street festivities and many performances and of course, it makes a great cense to come to Odessa during this week. The culmination if the holiday is on February 14, when «Pancake Week at Deribasovskaya» will start in Odessa. You can visit folk artisans fair, get gifts and surprises, see 3 meters tall bear, take part in various funny contests and many others. 350-litre samovar will be a center of a tea party as well as dramatized show of jolly paddlers with bread-rings.
